To our knowledge, this is the first time that the “Warmth Course,” the English translation of Dr. Steiner's Warme-Lehre: Zweiter Naturwissenschaftlicher Kursus, has appeared other than in type-script or “ditto” form. This edition has, in fact, been retyped from poorly-transcribed carbon copies of earlier texts, and we recognize the possibility of our having reproduced errors in translation or meaning. This publication is intended for those with a serious interest in the extension of modern scientific ideas about the physical sciences, and it is hoped that minor errors will not stand in the way of the basic text. We hope that this edition is judged as only the first of many, and that subsequent printings will take into account corrections which our readers may find. Time is too pressing, and educational needs in science too great to permit much delay in this initial publication; we hope that it may be read in the spirit in which it was printed.
